Chris worked successfully for many years as the HR Director of a major pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim,
and previously with ICI, Ciba-Geigy and Glaxo. This broad base of HR experience convinced him that people will
ultimately determine business success.
Originally an industrial relations specialist handling serious union conflicts, he began to study and introduce
alternative ways to improve the work climate and solve people problems. Investment in people development, meaningful
ways to share fairly in business success, encouraging employee engagement and the power of measuring performance
against the best all followed. When he left Boehringer the company was one of only three to rank in the top quartile
of the Sunday Times Top 100 companies for seven consecutive years.
Chris now undertakes consultancy on employee communication, leadership through significant change and maintaining
performance. He also works as a Non Executive Director for the NHS and gives part of his time to charitable fundraising.
Holds degree in economics and post-graduate diploma in Industrial Relations. A Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and
Development.
