How to manage workplace stress after your holiday

  • Try to return from holiday two days before you return to work
  • During those two days, empty your luggage and put your suitcases in the loft. Go to the supermarket and do some activities at home.
  • Try to return to your work schedule and obligations gradually. Start with the easiest tasks - some little things. For example read your email and arrange your office, etc.
  • Put up a photo in your office that you took on holiday and, while looking at it, savour the memory.
  • Manage your time and activities so you don’t feel drowned.
  • Relax! Often, stress and melancholy change the metabolic rate after your holiday.
  • Exercise, even if it’s just brisk lunchtime walks. Exercise is perhaps the best way to combat stress.
  • Ask colleagues and friends for their help.
  • Don’t schedule meetings for your first morning at work.
  • Don’t wait for the next holiday - make every day meaningful.
  • Use the return to work as a type of New Year’s resolution. Take up that hobby you have been promising yourself. Keep it simple and easy to take the first step.
