Team Effectiveness Inventory (TEI)
TEI analysis first gives the team information about
what it is doing well and should not change. More importantly it specifies
precisely what the team needs to do differently to perform even better.
The reports show the level of consensus among team
members about the team’s purpose and goals, strengths and weaknesses.
It also shows the effectiveness of team members, indicating how they
can make an even more effective contribution.
TEI measures a team’s effectiveness across eight
key processes. They have been identified as the processes that differentiate
exceptional teams from average ones. TEI works at three levels:
1. The individual
This level examines issues related to relationships
with other team members. It also looks at the task or technical know-how
each member contributes.
2. The unit
Here TEI asks how effectively the team operates as
a cohesive unit. The emphasis is on how well the team manages the eight
key processes.
3. The team as part of organisation
TEI measures and analyses the appropriateness of the
team style and its relationships with other groups. The team members
themselves, and the members of the other teams they work with, provide
the data.
Importantly, they are benchmarked against thousands
of other teams from other companies in the TEI database.
How we use it
To improve the performance of teams at all levels,
new or experienced and well established.
